Chad and Daniel hit pause on 2 Samuel to look at Psalm 51. David pleads with God for mercy, forgiveness, and a clean heart and says he will tell sinners everywhere about the steadfast love of his God. This is a beautiful Psalm of repentance and forgiveness. Have a listen.
God sends the prophet Nathan to confront David about his sin. Nathan tells a story about a poor man and a lamb and David condemns himself in his reaction. Sin is admitted and forgiveness is given in one of the great pictures of confession and absolution in the scriptures. Chad and Daniel discuss all of this.
Uriah won’t cooperate with David’s plan to cover up his sin, so he sends him back with a letter instructing Joab to make sure Uriah doesn’t survive the battle. Chad and Daniel discuss the beginning of the lowest part of David’s life. While his men are gone at war, David becomes idle, and watching a beautiful woman bathe starts a chain of terrible and sin-riddled events.
